Chinese Ink Painters Gain Attention in Europe with Their Unique Brushstrokes
(2024年9月6日 / Arizona Herald) According to data from the World Cities Culture Forum, Milan boasts over a hundred museums and galleries, nearly 15,000 creative companies, and 189,000 creative professionals. Its abundant resources and innovative energy have made Milan a shining stage for the arts. The 13th Expo Metro is set to take place in the heart of Milan, attracting creators from more than 30 countries, including France, the United States, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Japan. Over 300 artists from around the globe will come together to create this remarkable collective art movement.
In recent years, Chinese ink art has increasingly attracted the attention of international collectors. Kasashima Gallery has invited top Asian calligraphy and painting masters, including Chang Yu-Hsuan, Chien Hsuan-Ming, Wu Hsiu-Yin, Tsai Yu-Yun, Wu Li-Ying, and many other distinguished artists, to participate in this grand event. The exhibition will feature Chinese ink paintings and calligraphy, allowing the world to experience the profound aesthetic power of the East.

Expo Metro Milan is located at Piazza of San Carlo, in front of San Carlo al Corso. The artworks of participating artists will be displayed on a maxi LED wall, showcasing art to passersby and visitors, integrating art into every corner of urban life and becoming a prominent focal point in public spaces. Works from around the world cover a variety of forms and styles, from abstract and three-dimensional to realistic, including photography, graphic design, drawing, oil painting, collage, digital art, and more, reflecting the trends in contemporary art development.
This exhibition not only brings together creators from different cultures to showcase the diversity and creativity of contemporary art but also sets a model for the digitalization of exhibitions. By scanning the official QR code, viewers can access more information about the works and even link to the artists’ websites to learn about the prices. On the other hand, for collectors, this exhibition is a rare opportunity to quickly encounter outstanding works from around the world and to directly contact the artists to add unique pieces to their personal collections.

“Thanks to Kasashima Gallery for inviting me to participate in Expo Metro Milan, giving my work the opportunity to jointly take the international stage with the best calligraphers and traditional Chinese painters from Taiwan,” said Shimizu Yuzuki from Shizuoka, Japan, during an interview. He emphasized that Asian artists generally express emotions more subtly, often hiding messages within their creativity. In what might seem like irregular lines and colors, there could be deep reflections on life. Some works may appear abstract, but artistic creation, like life experiences, inherently has more than one feeling. Sometimes, the audience’s interpretation can be more important than the original intent of the work, which is why Eastern art possesses a sense of Zen and allure.
Kasashima Gallery introduces Asian culture and artistic aesthetics to a broader international audience through multinational exhibitions and emerging media, showcasing the unique charm of the East. By collaborating with Japanese and Taiwanese artists at Expo Metro Milan, Kasashima hope these Asian works will stimulate more discussion in the art market and continuously expand the influence of Eastern art.
